RETURN OF THE KING: POWER, POLITICS AND REVENGE
The highly anticipated sequel of the blockbuster” king of boys” returns to Netflix as a seven series episode making it the first Nollywood original series to debut on Netflix, a leading streaming entertainment service.
The lead actress Sola Sobowale who takes the role of Alhaja Eniola Salami the King of Boys returns to the country after a five-year exile with a strong political ambition that got her caught up in a game of trust and threatens her new and old enemies.
The Nigerian Filmmaker, Kemi Adetiba has outperformed at giving us a clean and relatively connective story that attracts the interest of Nigeria homes, School campuses, International recognitions and stands out as an epic achievement.
The movie narrowed down the extent Power, Money, Social status, Religious institutions influences Nigerian politics, it takes us through the underground games of the street gang leaders and the media role in covering the dirty tracks of corrupt politicians. The project retains some lead acts from the first king of boys movie while offering roles to mix of familiar and rising actors, Charles Oputa as Odudubariba, Richard Mofe Damijo as Reverend Ifeanyi, Efe Iwara as Dapo, Nse Ikpe-Etim as Jumoke Randle.
Another major hit scored by the series is how Reminsce who plays the role of Makanaki returns despite being shot dead multiple times in the initial story to take down all his enemies. But the series gave us shocker as he sided with his biggest enemy Alhaja Eniola at the end of the movie and secured his long coveted spot on the throne as the new King of boys.
The movie did not fail in depicting Nigeria culture in Languages, scripts, storylines, proverbs. From the final episode, post credit scenes and hints from the producer, Kemi adetiba about including present Bigbrother Naija housemate, Whitemoney in the 2. we can tell that there is more to come especially from characters like Jumoke Randle, Dapo, Makanaki, Charly boy.
